Oles Morrison hosts a Women in Construction Week Happy Hour

Mon Feb 25, 2019

On March 6th, Oles Morrison’s Women Leaders in Construction (WLiC) will host a happy hour to celebrate Women in Construction Week. WLiC has joined forces with NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction), Sawhorse Revolution, Washington Women in Trades and ANEW (Apprenticeship and Non-Traditional Career Pathways) to celebrate all womxn in the construction field.

Sawhorse Revolution is a nonprofit carpentry program for teens. Programs are offered for free, or with ample scholarship opportunities, supported by the city, private foundations, individual donations, fundraisers, and fee-for-service builds.

ANEW is the oldest, continuously running pre-apprenticeship program in the nation with a unique and successful reputation for training people to enter the construction industry. ANEW focuses on equity and inclusion in the construction industry for both women and people of color.

Washington Women in Trades (WWIT) is a community based, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve women’s economic equity and self-sufficiency through access and success in high-wage, high-skilled careers in the construction, manufacturing and transportation sector. This all-volunteer organization has established itself as a group of industry experts who facilitate connections between the working woman, the ‘wanting-to-be-working’ woman, prospective employers and government agencies.

NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.

WLIC was founded in 2012 by a team of female attorneys at Oles Morrison and brings together women who work in all sectors of the construction industry. It provides a platform for networking and professional development in what is often a male-dominated field.
