Fri Mar 16, 2018

Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker is pleased to announce that Douglas Stuart Oles, partner in the firm’s Seattle office, has been elected president of the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL). A fellow of the organization since 2004, Douglas is the first president of the ACCL in its nearly 30-year history who is based in the Pacific Northwest. As president, he will help guide the strategic direction of the organization in its mission to improve and enhance the practice and understanding of construction law, as well as to promote collaboration between U.S. practitioners and colleagues around the world.

The ACCL is an invited association of construction law practitioners, professors, and judges from the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, and France. Fellowship is extended by invitation to those who are found to have mastered the practice or the teaching of construction law and dispute resolution in technical and legal fields pertaining to the built environment.  The College seeks to promote high standards of ethical conduct and scholarship, and honors those who have demonstrated a commitment to “give back” to the construction industry. The College provides a professional forum for its Fellows to explore and analyze legal and industry issues arising nationally and internationally.

With more than three decades of transactional, litigation and arbitration experience, Douglas helps his clients avoid and resolve disputes on a wide variety of complex public and private contracts in the construction, supply, energy and real estate development industries. He is a Board member of the Global Engineering & Construction panel with JAMS.  He is also a fellow in the International Academy of Construction Lawyers, an honorary fellow in the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a fellow in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  Representing construction clients across the United States, Douglas has participated in a number of high profile infrastructure projects. He has also worked on various commercial contracts in Europe, Asia and South America.
