Oles Morrison Announces Three Attorneys Promoted to Partner

Oles Morrison announced today that Alix K. Town, Melia A. Preedy (Seattle) and Rebecca D. Takacs (Oakland) have been promoted to Partner, effective January 1, 2021.

“We are delighted to have Alix, Melia and Rebecca become Partners in our firm and we are excited for their continued success as the firm’s next generation of leaders,” said firm Managing Partner Jason Wandler.

Alix Town frequently represents owners, general contractors and subcontractors on a broad range of federal, state, and local government contracts and related litigation matters including contract formation and administration matters, government investigations, and contract claims and disputes. Using her experience and knowledge of federal procurement processes and systems, Alix assists contractors with state transportation construction projects, including bridges and light-rail. She also represents tunneling and micro-tunneling contractors, Base Operating Services contractors, paving contractors, fabricators, and Army Corps and Navy construction project contractors. In 2020, Alix earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Public Procurement Law and Policy from the University of Nottingham. Alix was included in the inaugural edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2021 for her work in Construction Law.

Melia Preedy focuses her practice on a wide variety of construction related matters from small private construction disputes to complex public engineering, building, heavy construction and insurance issues. Melia has handled multimillion-dollar complex construction disputes including terminations, differing site conditions, delay, and change order claims; GC/CM alternative procurement disputes; construction defect litigation; and insurance recovery claims. She draws on her experience in the construction industry working for a Fortune 500 company drafting multimillion-dollar proposals for both state and federal contracts to apply legal solutions to technical issues to the construction and government contracts issues her clients face. Her litigation experience includes arguing litigious matters in Washington state court, federal court, mediation and arbitration. Melia has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.

Rebecca Takacs is a litigation attorney focusing her practice on commercial litigation, construction, and real estate matters. She handles disputes for a wide range of clients including contractors, subcontractors, sellers, and buyers. Clients value Rebecca’s rigorous approach to early dispute resolution and litigation. Prior to joining Oles Morrison, Rebecca was an associate at Hawkins Parnell Thackston & Young where her practice focused on business and commercial litigation matters in federal court. Prior to entering private practice, Rebecca served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office and first chaired six trials to verdict. She has participated in all phases of litigation including legal research, discovery, motion practice, oral argument, and trial. Rebecca has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in Construction Litigation by Super Lawyers.
